ITIL Master Qualification latest

APMG the Accreditor of the ITIL Service Management qualifications have made an announcement on the top level qualification 'ITIL® Master'.

A Beta test has been announced. The beta phase of the pilot process will run for approximately 6 months from February 2011 and will be the final opportunity to test the assessment and operational processes associated with the ITIL® Master qualification, prior to public launch later this year.

It is rumoured that the ITIL Master qualification will be gained through demonstrating the practical application of the ITIL framework in the form of a project or Work Package. An earlier pilot test required candidates to submit a dissertation on their work.

As there is no exam and the qualification has to be applicable across a large number of IT roles, it is not possible to define a fixed syllabus with associated Learning Objectives.

At present the proposal for achieving the ITIL Master certificate are:

  • Application
  • Preparation and submission of a Proposal describing the real life situation/s addressed and the Elements of ITIL applied
  • Preparation and submission of a Work Package for assessment (A written submission describing real‐world assignments)
  • Attendance at interview, where the applicant will be assessed. You will be expected to explain how and why you selected and applied your knowledge of ITIL and supporting management techniques, to achieve desired business outcomes in one or more practical assignments, including how you addressed cultural and behavioural issues. You must not only describe the solutions but must also demonstrate the continued effectiveness of the solutions and the benefits.

We will keep you informed of future developments as we become aware of them on our ITIL Master webpage
